Sagittal
Up and down, as opposed to transverse.

Septoplasty
Septoplasty is a medical procedure designed to correct nasal septum deviation (an internally crooked nose divider).

Septum
The bone and cartilage that divides the left and right nose.

Sinusitis
Inflammation of a sinus. The condition may be purulent or nonpurulent, acute or chronic. Depending on the site of involvement, it is known as ethmoid, frontal, maxillary or sphenoid sinusitis.

Sphenoethmoid cells
Of or pertaining to both the sphenoidal and the ethmoidal sinus regions of the skull.

Sphenoidal sinuses
One of the paired paranasal sinuses, located in the back of the nose.

Superficial
On the surface or shallow, as opposed to deep.

Superior meatus
The space between the middle turbinate and the orbit.
