Paranasal sinuses
Air-filled extensions of the respiratory part of the nasal cavity into the frontal, ethmoid, sphenoid, and maxillary cranial bones. They vary in size and form in different individuals and are lined by the ciliated mucus membranes of the nasal cavity.

Pneumatized
Filled with air.

Polyps
Small, sac-like growths consisting of inflamed nasal mucosa.

Posterior
The back, as opposed to the anterior.

Posterior ethmoid cells
Ethmoid cells located posteriorly to the basal lamella of the ethmoid.

Posteroanterior
From back to front, as opposed to anteroposterior.

Purulent
Containing, consisting of or being pus.

Proximal
Situated close to.
Next to or nearest the point of attachment or origin, a central point, or the point of view; especially located toward the center of the body.
