Maxilla
The bone that forms the face and upper jaw.

Maxillary sinuses
An air-filled cavity within the maxilla (bone that forms the face and upper jaw). The maxillary sinus is located just below the bony prominence of the cheek.

Meatus
A natural passage or canal, as in the middle meatus.

Medial
In the middle or inside.

Microdebrider
A powered surgical tool that helps the surgeon precisely remove tissue with minimal damage to the surrounding mucosal tissue.

Middle turbinate
Fleshy vascular tissue on the lateral wall of the nose that warms, filters, and humidifies air.

Middle meatus
The space between the middle turbinate and the orbit.

Mucus
The free-flowing secretions of the mucus membranes which are composed of various inorganic salts, desquamated cells and leucocytes.

Mucus membrane
The lubricated inner lining of the nasal passages. Any membrane or lining which contains mucus-secreting glands.
